Astounding Career Many people will not know the name of Berni Scott in relation to racing. That's because due to lack of management and sponsorship his careerer was as astounding as it was short. Berni first car race was at Brands Hatch he was at the back of the grid of 26 and overtook just one car Two races later at Silverstone without any testing he was just eleven thousands of a second behind his more experienced team mate. In the race he progressed from 11th to 6th in less than a lap only to have his bakes fail and retire. At Mallory Park for the first time he qualified on pole by over a second. The following year constantly ran in the top six but was robbed of outright victory by minor mechanical setbacks and retirements. A faulty fuel pump at Brands, a water pump at Lydden Hill, even wheel balance at Mondello Park Ireland. Meaning at Mondello he started dead last and finished Driver of the Day in both races due to his unrivalled progress through the field. It was the last straw and Berni quite the championship having ran out of money and having lost all faith in his teams ability to put together a reliable fast car. Short story took the gigantic leap from a 130mph Formula First to 210mph V8 Mexican Indy Lights. As far as it is know nobody in modern times has taken such a leap in Formula. Such a transition and progression would take most racers thousands of miles of testing and 3 or 4 seasons, in other words about 100 races or so. Berni did in 13 races and about 200 miles of testing.
